Any Dead fans?
I’ve been loving the Grateful Dead lately. I’ve even been enjoying Dead & Company with John Mayer.

As a former - yet longtime - resident of Eugene, Oregon, I’d be quite content if I never heard The Dead again for as long as I may live

They were popular in my high school, but I never really got into them. Come my late 20s I started becoming a pretty big fan. My high school class was pretty different as I graduated in the late 80s but all of us listen to was a seventies classic rock. Led Zeppelin you name it.

I have given them along with other jam bands a try, I just can't get into them but to each their own.

I felt the same way. I didn't give them a chance because of the "jam band" label and I never liked jam bands. Phish comes to mind. But the Dead have a lot of normal structure songs too, like Ripple. The albums Workingman's Dead and American Beauty are more traditional song structures. But Live Dead is what made me a fan.

I know nothing of Deadheads, though for your amusement, there was an old joke Magic the Gathering card (from the first joke set, Unglued) that was inspired by Deadheads:
