Time for another arcade review, this time more recent! Several years later another HOTD has premiered and this time it's a mixture of old and new in one convenient package. Taking place a few years after the events in HOTD 4, at some luxurious mansion follows Kate Green from the previous game pairing up with James Taylor's little brother Ryan. Everything is going smoothly at the mansion with some great party when of course the undead strike. Armed with a machine gun Kate and Ryan do what they can to stop the undead and whoever is responsible for it. Primarily you have a machine gun, but in this game you get different weapons as well

from grenades, shotgun, water bombs and incendiary rounds to name a few. If you're a gore fan, you'll be a little bit disappointed as vanquished zombies don't burst into meaty bits or cartoonish gore but disappear in flames. The only blood you'll see is when you get hit. After the prologue stage you get to choose which order you want to go and like previous games, your performance affects the endings. Two bosses return, The Chariot and the Hanged Man, but this time they're not pushovers like they were in the first game. For example, Chariot starts off with some tough armor and all you can do is stop his attacks, but midway through the fight you pick up a rocket launcher enabling you to create your own weakpoint on the foe (I recommend the torso or head for best results) and from that point on its smooth sailing. Two new foes make the cut, Priestess a giant octopus and finally Moon an enormous demon. The rescue mechanic from previous games returns which brings back the fun. Adding to the fun is of course the bad acting and dialogue, though the 4th game had some surprisingly good acting. If you find this at Dave and Busters hop on and play!
