So, I finally finished Doom Eternal on Switch 1. It's a pretty impressive port of an okayish and enjoyable Doom game. (I only do single player, so no opinion on multiplayer here). If you have the cartridge, it still wants you to download a lot of GB, but you can ignore that.
For a Doom game it has an excessive amount of jumping, which can be frustrating at times. Also, I didn't find the music very impressive - forgetful is the best description. Furthermore, there are quite a lot of customization options for Doomguy, which is far away from the (still) impressive original 1993 edition. The story isn't particular interesting - far away from something like BioShock 1.
However, I must admit I started to like the hectic gameplay more and more when I got further into the game. It's kinda cool you cannot stay still, because then you'll die - just keep running, shooting and punching!
All, in all and impressive Switch port, and an enjoyable game. Not a classic in my opinion, but still worth your time.

Re: Doom Eternal (Switch)
I loved Doom 2016 but could never make it very far in Eternal. Doom 2016 was great at being chaotically cathartic. It perfectly embodied the "RIP AND TEAR!" slogan. Eternal made things way too complicated, with half a dozen finishing moves that you have to decide between depending on whether you need health, ammo, or armor, and which only work in the right conditions. I also didn't like the enemies having specific weaknesses. Like, making them weak to certain weapons is fine, but I didn't like the fact that you were pretty much forced to only use that specific weapon against them or else feel like you might as well be flicking rubber bands at them.

Re: Doom Eternal (Switch)
I played it on Xbox and found it very wanting. The pappa the rappa type qte events to get extra ammo annoyed me. Though, if you have played Doom Dark Ages, you will know the lack of respect for the subject is with that game as well. There is a rumour that the Switch 2 is getting a port of it.
It is worth pointing out that it has a big robot section and a flying section, yawn.
