Vendetta (Arcade Review)

Time for another arcade review! This time Vendetta, a Final Fight clone from Konami that scores high on the fun factor. You get 4 bad boys to play as all modeled after many 80's action stars and athletes named Blood (resembling a cross between Mike Tyson and Sammy Davis Jr.- my personal favorite), Hawk (with the obvious resemblance to Hulk Hogan - 2nd favorite), Boormer (resembling Jean Claude Van Damme), and Sledge (resembling Mr. T). Like Final Fight, the boys have their own strengths and weaknesses, Blood is fast but weak, Hawk is strong but slow, Boomer is an all-arounder, and Sledge is another powerhouse. Besides punching there's also a kick button which you can also use to attack downed foes as well. There's a WIDE range of weapons to use from such as knives, bottles, molotovs, bricks, chains, clubs (you can knock foes into the background with!), and a shotgun (yes you heard right, a firearm!). The music is high Konami quality that you won't forget, plus some memorable voices from the bosses such as "Let's see how tough you are punk!", "You couldn't fight your way out of a paper bag!" "Revenge is Sweet!". Like many other beat'em'ups the only negative is the repetitiveness, but that doesn't mean you'll keep coming back for more action.
