Superman (Arcade)

Look up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's......a decent Superman game? That's right, this lesser known arcade game by Taito is actually worth a bit of your time and gets some things right, and though a few things wrong, it's better than that abomination on the N64 and better than The Death and Return of Superman. To start things off you have two buttons one to punch and one to kick. Even better is don't just stroll you can press up and around and you can actually float around the screen as you clear enemies. Holding down the punch button charges you up for a power attack that's not only quite devastating, but also goes a bit of ways, the only negative is you can't move as you charge so timing is crucial. You'll clear a wave of enemies and at times you can pick up some objects as weapons! After one phase you switch to a flying mode and the kick button enables you to launch heat vision beams at enemies and obstacles. One of the highlights is this game contains a nice rendition of John Williams famous theme from the Christopher Reeve movies. Of course there are some negatives, the fighting action gets repetitive and the gameplay is a bit sluggish. Other than that, this is a nice little diversion that at least does the license justice (if not completely)
