Opertation Thunderbolt (Arcade)
One year after Operation Wolf, the sequel arrived, and this is a lot better. You now can play 2 player and even better is when you die you can continue on where you died! Much better use of time than the last, though be careful of the last chapter, if you get killed there, it's automatic game over regardless of how many coins you have. You progress through 8 areas as you defend yourself from soldiers, tanks, jeeps, planes, and super commandoes. Save your rockets for vehicles and bosses during the rescue stages, just be careful in the rescue stages as if you get the hostages saved you get some health restored, but shoot them and lose life. In the last level, align your shots where the enemy holding the pilot stops to shoot you a bit and make sure you don't kill the pilot or your stranded. There are no alternate routes, but that won't stop you from coming back again and again. Another shooter for those who grew up in the 80's they'd know by heart.

Isn't this a light gun game? How did you play it?

So what did you just move a cursor around the screen?

These MAME version you use keyboard controls to move the crosshairs, and depending on the game, you'll either see a faint white plus style crosshair, or more pronounced circle X crosshair that can be blue or red (such as in Zombie Raid which I've also played and beaten thanks to MAME)

you can also poke your finger on the screen where you want to shoot and it works pretty good

I have tried to get into light gun games without a light gun by way of a mouse and I just can't enjoy it.
I really want to revisit Virtua Cop 2 but playing without a gun is only 5% as fun! I hope that 'Sinden' Light gun project comes to fruition.

ActRaiser,
Thanks for the info about the guns! So if they work with MAME, does that mean they work on an HDTV?
