These are two old favorites I feel deserved more attention. Updated the reviews and raised the grades for both Raiders (C to B-) and Riddle (C+ to B-). Also added better screenshots and box art for Riddle. I consider these to very fun summer adventures.

Thoughts? Feedback? Let's hear it!

When I was a kid my best friend LOVED Riddle of the Sphinx and would always want to play it with me and help him with the second joystick and items. He was really into adventure games and RPGs.

I have fond memories of both of these games. I actually had a friend who showed me how to solve Raiders. It was fun to occasionally finish the game again. I always felt like Atari should have approached the Swordquest series in a manner that was like Raiders of the Lost Ark. I feel like the series could have been a winner if they had actually made the game a puzzle like experience instead of that awful trial and error mess that it ended up being.

Never played Riddle- thanks for the review, I'm interested now. I have that one laying around and might try it out. Raiders is one I owned as a kid. I was always really impressed by that game, because it felt like it had real "substance" to it, which wasn't a feeling I got from most 2600 games, which tended to feel more arcade-inspired. Well, despite being impressed, I was also very confused by it. I mostly had absolutely no clue what was going on and wandered around aimlessly. I still have Raiders, but I don't think I've played it since at least the 90s. Still, it was a fun trip back by reading your review, and as always, appreciated the family anecdote you tossed in.

:D :D :) ;) :o

So I was reading the two great reviews of two of my fave 2600 games. I thought I would go up the list and read the other reviews. Low and behold you hated another of the games, that I like the game but it is great you hate it. It is what makes this site so great. The differing opinions about a game that came out 40 years ago.
