2021/12/4: Lynx: Roadblasters

Postby VideoGameCritic » December 4th, 2021, 9:42 am

I've been trying to review every version of Roadblasters I can get my hands on, but this Lynx edition really stands out.
What do you think of the review?

Very good review and very descriptive. I have never played handhelds as I just enjoy console games. There is just too much out there on the web to do when I'm away from my consoles. I have to admit I was never a big fan of Rodeblasters. I have it on my Sega Genesis. But I hardly ever play it. I acquired it about 10 years ago and when I did start first playing I didn't play it much. Simply because there are so much more better games about racing and even combat. The sense of speed to me just wasn't there.

Interesting review - and timely. I was looking for a quick game to play tonight, and this inspired to pull the Lynx off the shelf. It had been a few years since I've played Lynx. With these old handhelds, I always have that moment of relief when the thing still works! Fortunately, mine still did.

Anyway, I have Roadblasters for Lynx but I don't think I had ever played it before. I gave it a shot tonight, and I agree 100% with your review. Not much substance to it, but it's still a really fun arcade-style game. Reminds me of Spy Hunter. Had a good time with it. Thanks for the review.

Why isn't there a review of Roadblasters in the Genesis section? You mention in the NES review and this review that you played it, but there is no review of the Genesis version posted.

The Genesis review is "in the queue" and will be posted soon.

Sigh... this is one of the Lynx games I really wish would find its way to the Evercade, but thanks to licensing... :(

What are it's licensing issues?

The rightsholder of the brand (not sure if Atari has the rights, given how their properties have been carved up and sold over the years as Atari changed owners...)

Also, the fact that the game appeared in a Midway compilation set (Midway Arcade Treasures) is a concern; I honestly do not know who the license/brand owner is of Roadblasters.
