2022/1/21: Arcadia 2001: Boxing, Golf
Check out my latest Emerson Arcadia 2001 reviews for Boxing and Golf. You know the games must be old when their names are that short! Golf is a re-review (C+ to C-). Comments?

Awesome! Love seeing Arcadia 2001 reviews, especially new ones. These titles almost seem like responses to, or clones of, the matching Intellivision games.
Boxing especially looks like a mini version of "sexy bunny" Intelliivision Boxing -- so named because your victory pose looks kinda like a bunny striking a come-hither pose:
You see it, right? No?...I'll get me coat.
Keep these pre-crash reviews coming! Always pleased to see them.

They couldn't copyright nearly featureless, low resolution monochrome sprites. Especially when they're attempting to simulate imagery of things in the public domain.
It's why Square-Enix can send their lawyers after anyone using Space Invaders iconography for profit, but EA can't sue anyone making unlicensed football games.
Another factor is whether or not someone is worth going after.
Basically, imagine a reverse 3DO. That's the Arcadia 2001 console plan. Their own outdated budget hardware wasn't nearly as successful as selling the rights to manufacture it were.
But they were smart enough to know they needed a good game library to be taken seriously by gamers - or at least, the appearance of one. What's a licensing? By the time Atari finished with these amateurs in the courtroom, there wasn't much left for Mattel.
Especially since they lied to critics about their console's power, and the backlash was what they had for Holiday marketing. (Somewhere, Sam Tramiel was totally missing the moral of the story.)
Plus, the American console industry soon had a lot more important things to worry about.
