2022/6/23: Atari Jaguar: JagZombies 2

Check out my review of a Jaguar homebrew called JagZombies 2. Much better than the original but not really up to professional standards. Thoughts?

Wow an actual decent game on the Jaguar, that's pretty much a rarity. Your review went pretty in depth on the gameplay but the grade scares me a little. I haven't bought a Jaguar game in years. Well it is apparently very difficult but this one rather intrigues me. VGC I think you pointed everything out well and I couldn't ask for a better review.

If I were to spend Halloween with a Jaguar, I would play Doom or Alien vs. Predator.

These shooters where you have to drag a crosshair around the screen with a D-pad are the lamest thing ever. If the system doesn't have a light gun, just make something else that has any chance of being fun.

Here is another interesting review of the game. It seems they fixed a lot of the bugs on Jag Zombies 1 for inclusion on the cart. Also, a pro tip from the reviewer is when running low on shotgun shells switch to the flame gun then switch back to the shot gun and it is completely reloaded. That will save time.

Also target shooting looks fun.

I have been informed there is in fact a two-player mode which should make it easier to make progress. I will try that out next time I have a friend over, and perhaps revise the review. Stay tuned.

Awesome, feel the power of the Atari Jaguar!! 64 bits .. do the math. Plus mention the target range. That sounds awesome.

Great review and good to see another Jag homebrew. I know the guy developing these caught a lot of flak for his earlier releases, especially over on Atari Age. I vaguely recall some of the reasoning, but since I can't recall the full story, I'll leave it at that. Anyway, point is, it sounds like he kept trekking on anyway and is making better homebrews along the way. Always good news in my book when it comes to a system like the Jag.

Well played the two-player mode with Scott today, thinking it would be easier and maybe improve the grade of the game.

Well, it was easier to make progress, but was a confusing mess, especially with regard to reloading, which we never really figured out (just mashed buttons).

We could have probably played till the end, but we wouldn't want to. The stages are too long and repetitive.

Scott argued this might actually cause us to LOWER the existing grade!
