2022/8/6: Atari 2600: Pooyan, Nuts

While reviewing Nuts I was reminded of Pooyan, so I decided to pair up the reviews.

What do you think?

I've only played the Famicom port of Pooyan which is excellent.

Pooyan and Mappy are two of the most fun arcade ports on the Famicom that didn't make it to the US.

Konami tried, but likely due to the 2600 limitations, the game is very stripped down and unappealing to me. I can see somebody ignoring the ugly visuals and having some fun with the frantic shooting action, but not me.

Even if it's contractually obligated, these obscure European games make for fun reads. Reminds me of your review of Alien's Return (E.T. Go Home).

Seconded! I love seeing new reviews of obscurities. And a few of those obscure European Atari 2600 games are actually quite solid, good even. At the very least, a bunch of them have creative gameplay mechanics or unusually detailed graphics.

Retro,
This cart make me laugh so hard I think I'm going to go back and incorporate it as an extra pic into the Alien Returns review.
Thanks for posting it.

"E.T. Go Come" almost sounds like a porno label

So we've got E.T. Go Come and a critic who's playing with his Nuts while thinking about his Pooyan. What's happening to this site?!
