This Pole Position review has been in the works for some time. I have grown proficient at this game, but it really shouldn't be so hard.
Princess Quest is a homebrew I discovered on the Evercade Intellivision Collection 1, and it's quite remarkable.
Let's hear your opinions now...

Re: 2023/6/3: Intellivision: Pole Position, Princess Quest
I looked Princess Quest up on YouTube and was impressed. I wasn't expecting it to scroll or to have such lengthy stages. The difficulty looks real wonky, though. The side-scrolling levels seem very easy compared to Ghosts 'n' Goblins when you have ten hits per life and hearts from every other enemy, but then the vertical levels get really cheap and just dump rocks on you that you can't see coming. Am I off-base with this? Does it play better than the video I saw made it look?

Wow Pole Position is a 1988 release. That means it came out after Rad Racer.

I'm glad you finally posted a review of the intellivision Pole Position. My friend had that console and we used to play the heck of it back in the day. But after a few weeks I realized it just wasn't a very good version. We were excited to have it on that console, but eventually became disappointed even though we made ourselves try to like it. It was great for a week though.
Critic I think I told you about 6 months ago that I picked up the Atari age 2600 version. This game did not disappoint whatsoever. It's a very good take on it and is impressive that they were able to accomplish this on the 2600 hardware. Of course it's not the arcade, but it was very satisfactory. Give it a chance when you get a shot.

New Intellivision reviews! This is why I come back to this site -- so pleased to see these.
Pole Position was one of the last and most surprising holdouts among classic-era games that hadn't gotten a review so it's great to see it covered. I haven't played it in ages but, from memory, I think the Critic's review is pretty spot-on.
As for Princess Quest, you know, I own a copy but haven't gotten around to playing it: how embarrassing! It certainly looks really nice and it's pleasing to know it plays well. I've ordered a new Intellivision controller (a new design that's been made available on AtariAge) and I look forward to seeing how it plays with one of those.

Speaking of which, Rad Racer II is very overdue for a review. Gorgeous game.

I had to check my old list, but apparently I actually did own the Intellivision version of Pole Position at one time but sold it some time later; it would have been around 2007. I sure don't remember ever actually playing it, though I'm sure I must have. I've always thought it looked pretty bad. One version I did play quite a bit as a kid was the Atarisoft version for the TI-99 4/A, which I felt was pretty decent at the time.
