I've updated my Most Terrifying Games page, which I'm told by Google is my most popular page.

I added three games and reordered them a bit. Let me know what you think? Agree or disagree?

Re: Most Terrifying Games Page Updated
Quite a modern skew for an 'all time' list maybe?
I guess this leads into a question; do games become less scary as their graphics age?
Doom (1993) was probably extremely scary back in the day for instance.

I would say modern games have a clear edge when it comes to horror. Obviously, the more realistic graphics can create better atmosphere with sophisticated, lighting, shadows etc.
But also, game companies have had a lot of time to learn their trade and hone their techniques. Capcom has been making Resident Evil for 30 years now (!), so they have become the masters of horror.
Interesting you should bring up Doom. That is definitely a scary game that might be worthy of inclusion on this list.
What do the rest of you think?

It is a great list, and yeah number 1 scared me so much.
It is worth having a look at is the Quiet Place, on ps4. A very scary game. If you liked the movie, it is a fantastic update to the story. It puts you right in it. Though it is a bit linear and I think if you beat it you might not go back to that often. I stopped playing it, as it is so scary. Though I will play it next month in time for Halloween.

Doom is a good choice. The one on the PS1 is the pinnacle I think. Just because when it came out it was the definitive version, better than the jag, Saturn, 3do, 32x and Snes. It is also great on DS. The brooding music on the ps1 is what sets it apart from the Jag version, which has the great title music but no in game music. The 3do, Snes and 32x had a smaller window to get the game to run at speed. The Saturn version had such a low frame rate, the demons froze for a second or two before attacking you. I guess it made it easier but it is funny to think the 32X version, was smoother and had a better frame rate. The Snes version is a triumph!! Who would have thought the Snes could do it. Though there are things that were deleted to get the game to run, but it was my first doom cart, so it has a special place in my heart.
