I did not find the self-censorship in the review of "The Wonderful 101" ("[expletive]") and the rude language in the review of "Sonic Lost World" entertaining. I would have been more considerate about my audience while reviewing those games if I were the critic.
So you don't like it when people use rude language OR when they sensor that language for you?  You are a hard person to please.  Time to loosen your tie a bit...

I am his audience, a 35 year old retro and current gamer, and I love that the Critic doesn't drop 4-letter bombs on me all the time, and I like the tone and humor of the Sonic review.  Maybe you should be more aware that you may not have a very keen idea of what his audience consists of...
You are misreading his comment.

He does not rude language or profanity referenced in any way, even when it is implied by brackets.

I agree. Game culture is bad enough as it is, we do not need and 'Angry Joe' VGC....keep in mind some ppl are driven here by how bad the culture is in other places.

I am planning on buying Sonic in the next couple of months, maybe I will have to share my experiences - what a polarizing game! To tell the truth, I will be shocked if I find it worse than the Sonic Adventure games, and I know they were reviewed highly, so we will see.

Nice reviews.  Unlike the others, I would prefer more cussing in the reviews for humor purposes.  A modern society should not have forbidden words.

I was not kidding while composing my previous message and I believe there are other folks like myself who would take offense to rude (and unnecessary) language in reviews like the ones for "Sonic Lost World" and "The Wonderful 101".

Mario500 take a chill pill, I mean very occasionally VGC writes something where he suggests his frustration with a game.

As the end of the day I am not surprised by his review.  The sonic character is fine in 2D but 3D (IMHO) has always been a problem.  It never seems to really hit the spot.  I played Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast and was not keen on it.

I played Sonic the Hedgehog on xbox and completely and totally hated it.  So VGC giving it an F was right on the money. My friends kid came round and was looking for something to play and spied my copy of Sonic on xbox.  So she played it for an hour and said it was terrible.  Interesting to see this troubled title getting a similar score.  They should have said that sonic had retired and that was why he had to be so slow.

Let's everyone take a deep breath and relax.  No need to derail these feedbacks with this type of discussion.  Also no need to jump down anyone's throat about stuff [biggrin]

Mario500 - If you have a problem with the Critic's language please message or email him personally about the matter.  I realize that these are review feedback forums, but most people would rather discuss the games and not get into a battle over the Critic's occasional use of salty language.

So anyone that's played Wonderful 101 really love it?  [Crickets] *dodges lettuce/tomotoes being thrown*...

Disagree about Sonic in 3-D being a problem, some of his best games have been in 3-D IMO.

Okay, Sonic Lost World was disappointing, but I don't really think it deserves an "F." That kind of Grade would go to something like Sonic 2006, or Sonic Genesis GBA.

If I were to review Lost World, I honestly think a C- would be more appropriate since you can legitimately play through the game and beat it, but doing so would feel like a chore...

(the same goes for an earlier review Sonic Unleashed, only THAT One I would actually give an A-)

A lot of people are SHOCKED whenever I give any game an F.  I think this is mainly because most sites avoid giving such low grades altogether.  I don't like that.

Some people think an F-grade game should be totally unplayable.  I hear a lot of feedback like "I agree it's a bad game, but an F?!?!!"

Personally, I think there should be as many F games as A games.  If you are grading on a curve, that's how it should work.  In retrospect, I give a lot more A's than F's, so if nothing else, I'm far too kind.

Also, I don't mind people taking issue with the language I use in my reviews on these boards.  I think that makes for interesting discussion.  My language can get a little rough but I think it reflects my emotion felt while playing the game.
