Well this is a game I am never going to get since I do not like Baseball.  It seems a fair review. Americans love saying that the team that wins the world series are world champions.  The truth is no ones plays it apart from them.

Not true, Baseball is actually very popular in Japan as well.

So four or five countries make it a world champs.  So do they play in the world series?  If the answer is no then it is not a world series.  Cricket is bigger that it by a long way.  Time to start reviewing those games.  Oh Australia are world champions... or they got the ashes or some rot like that. At least in the cricket world cup more than just one countries teams play in it.

Anyway good review.

One hour install time?  I'd expect that with installing Windows...but not a video game!!!

To be honest I've never understood why some American sports refer to their competitions as 'world series' when they don't compete on a worldwide basis, although to be fair it's probably more of marketing ploy. But by that logic are Austrialia the Boomerang Throwing world champions ?

The football/soccer World Cup is the true 'world' game as most of the world takes part, even the likes of Iran and Andorra. Qatar are hosting the tournament in the future. So along with the Olympics these are the true World Series.

Anyhow I'm staggered with the 1 hour install time, I thought the big thing with PS4 is you could play the game whilst it installs ? Killzone and MGS 5 certainly did this so why doesn't MLB '14?

The first World Series was held in 1903 before international feel-goodism was the norm. The name stuck and it isn't going to change.

There is a World Baseball Classic international competition similar to the World Cup in Soccer.

There perhaps may be professional league mixing in the distant future, but US major leagues buy up most of the top talent from around the world the same way European soccer leagues buy up talent.  The competition wouldn't be very compelling at this point.  Without compelling competition, there isn't enough extra money to make international professional baseball feasible.

But you don't like baseball, and nothing i say here is going to change your mind.

Well while I was setting up the game, I could see the install percentage in the corner (moving VERY slowly).  But when I tried to select the Orioles I was told that had not been installed yet.  So I basically was forced to wait for the entire process.  The "install while you play" feature is basically a crock of [expletive].

NBA 2K14 had something like that, where only a couple teams were available to be played right off the bat. I believe it was the Heat/Thunder or something. So probably it'd be Red Sox/Cardinals or something while you wait. I guess they can only give you so much while the game installs. I used that time to take a shower and take the dog out.

This is an up and down game. Some shots look fantastic, others, like they're from the PS1. I'm not too pleased about the framerate, although that's a little better since the patch. I think they have a solid foundation to work with in the future.
