Nice reviews, Critic. I also agree that the NES Gauntlet games kind of suck. The series didn't get really good until Gauntlet Legends if you ask me, which more than made up for previous shortcomings.

Be interested in a review of the sega master system version of Gauntlet. The NES may just have outmatched by Gauntlet as the 2600 was with Space Invaders, but Atari then was more creative than Tengen Atari later.
You were pretty harsh, but sadly, its pretty valid criticisms.
To 'fully exterminate' is like 'kill them dead.' I know what you mean, its just oddly worded.
I am on the mobile site, and I realized the 'if you like this, try these other games' below the ebay links is not there. Its there on full site, but not mobile. Gauntlet like games are fun on systems that can handle it.

Good reviews, I've never been a fan of the Guantlet series on the NES, you're right- it's pretty bad. I like Dungeon Explorer much more (T16, Sega CD) and it definitely delivered what Guantlet couldn't.

Oh man, I just LOVE Super Off Road!
I've actually been trying to sell my boxed & complete NES copy of Super Off Road on Craigslist, but after reading this re-review maybe I will hang on to it a little while longer. For sentimental reasons of course
Btw, if you have or can find an NES Satellite, I bet this game would be a BLAST to play with 4 friends simultaneously! A few beers and some Off Road, that would be a good Friday night right there

Surprised at the Gauntlet scores but then again I've never played the NES versions only the Master System and PS2 (Midway Treasures). Like Scotland would like to hear your thoughts on the Master System version.
As mentioned on another thread I liked the Master System port of California Games but the reception to the NES version is poor.
Perhaps these games just weren't ported very well to the NES. Most of the better NES games seem to be system exclusives or at least where the NES was the original version.
