I would humbly like to nominate the following:

Halo: Combat Evolved

What console game at the time supported up to 16 players all without having to get online?

Wii Sports
Even my wife would play this.

Sambe De Amigo (DC)
Until you've gotten drunk watching everyone take turns playing it, it's the ultimate party game.  The Wii version has a hard time identifying everything correctly.  But the DC version with the right hardware is awesome...

Rock Band 3
Drums, Guitar, Keyboards, Microphones...it's got it all.

I would say that Medieval Mayhem is a tribute to the original Warlords, and therefore Warlords deserves the credit for originality.

I like the list...but I think there a bit too much redundancy.  Do you really need to have Castle Crisis and Warlords?  Same thing with Danny Sullivan and Super Off Road...yeah they're TECHNICALLY different, but I'd rather you pick one and then add something completely different to the list.

Also...you're missing out on what is arguably the single greatest multiplayer game in existence!

Pac Man VS for the Nintendo Gamecube.  It requires you to have the GBA to GC adapter...but I ASSURE you the setup is very much worth it.  You and your friends will waste countless hours with this game.   

Good feedback guys.  If I have one regret, it's not including FIFA for the 3DO - perhaps that should supplant one of the NES racing games.

Rock Band was one of the honorable mentions I reluctantly left off.  

As for Warlords versus the remakes, my friends still insist the original Warlords is more fun to play.

I think Super Bomberman should be removed from the list and replaced with Saturn Bomberman. It's a better game in every way and is probably the best (or at least in top 3) Bomberman games ever made. Also Mario Kart 8 should replace Mario Kart Wii.

I also agree with the Halo nomination (even though I'm not a huge FPS fan).

First of all great idea for a list VGC. The thing about lists is they are always controversial. At first I agreed about the sentiment that this particular list is a little redundant. But after thinking about it since it's a top 25 and not a top 10 there is plenty of room for redundancy. Great job Critic don't change a thing.

Damn, completely forgot.... I know you've never been a huge fan but at least one of the Smash Bros games should be on there.

Nice list, Critic.  Only one complaint from me... You list several sports games, but you missed the best multiplayer sports game ever -- Tecmo Super Bowl (NES)!

However, in fairness, I just read the fine print to open your article and saw that you limited it to four player games.  My bad!

Maybe I need some follow-on lists, like best head-to-head and best coop games.
