How does the VGC review games, exactly?

Postby LS6501 » January 29th, 2014, 9:26 am

Maybe this has been covered before, but how do you review games, exactly?

Do you buy old games off eBay, etc? Are they all originals, or do your test via flash carts, emulation, etc?
How do you decide what games to try out?

And of course, how much time do you dedicate to playing each game to ensure you are giving it a thorough and fair try?

Thanks for any answers you can give. I think this might make a good basis for a full article.

This FAQ may shed some light.

Yes I do buy old games off Ebay, and I always review them on the original systems.
There's set time on how long I play each one, but I try to give each a fair shake.
I think my readers tend to trust my judgement.  If I screw up they will call me on it.
