Odd sentence in Ristar review

Postby eneuman961 » March 13th, 2015, 3:58 pm

So this doesn't exactly fall under typos, which is why I didn't put it in that thread, but the first sentence in the Ristar review is rather bizarre:

"This obscure platformer harkens back to the days of happy-go-lucky platformers like Super Mario World (SNES, 1991) and Sonic the Hedgehog (Genesis, 1991)."

This is written as though Ristar was created for a contemporary system, even though it only came out four years after 1991 and is in fact on the SAME system as one of those other games. Not to mention I'm pretty sure platformers of that type were still at least somewhat ubiquitous during that time of the 16-bit era. Anyway, the rest of the review is good (I enjoyed the game a lot myself); just thought I'd point out that weirdly written first sentence.

I did not find the first sentence of the review weird or bizarre.

Odd sentence in Ristar review

I agree. This sounds more like the opening line to a review of a current retro-themed game... Not a game released a few years after the game it "hearkens back" to...

Odd sentence in Ristar review

I think that sentence was meant to in the context of 2014 and not when the game was released.  Still, I can change it.
