2017/3/10: Genesis: Twin Cobra, Hit The Ice

I just posted my T16 review of Hit the Ice, so I'd thought you'd like to see the Genesis review also. The SNES review will be next. Please post comments.

I think I agree that the gameplay on the Turbografx-16 version of Hit the Ice is a bit better. I remember that once I got a lead in the Genesis version, I could just play keep-away from the CPU and run out the clock. :) Oddly enough I don't remember ever seeing the octopus in the Genesis version, but it's possible I just overlooked it or happened to randomly not get it.

If there's no thing that causes a game to age poorly, it's poor animation. Pixelated graphics and electronic audio have charm, but choppy visuals are hard to tolerate. I down-graded the grade from the original review from D+ to D. The SNES version is even worse (posted soon).

I should also mention I had a real attitude problem in my original review of Twin Cobra (dated 2006). The new review was a lot less nit picky and raised the grade from C to B. I like its stripped-down style.

Glad you loved Twin Cobra one of my fave shooters on the megadrive. Good fun and well put together. Something that they seem to have lost this gen.
