Just to confirm, this is written by the C64 Critic, right? Somehow the phrase "multi-year man-crush" doesn't sound like your usual style -- <seinfeld>not that there's anything wrong with that.</seinfeld>

BTW is the C64 the only system for which you plan to have an in-house guest reviewer? I'm wondering if someday there'll be an Apple II Critic or Amiga Critic under your aegis.

What can I say, I love the original XCOM: UFO Defense so much I went on to buy Email Xcom (Hasbro), Laser Squad Nemesis, Rebelstar: Tactical Command (for the Game Boy Advanced), and now Laser Squad. Pretty much if I find out he was involved in something, I tend to get it if possible. Man-crush!

@C64_Critic: have you also played Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars for the Nintendo 3DS, produced by Gollop? I know a lot of people consider that game 'a hidden gem' for the 3DS, though I found it a bit boring.

I have not, I haven't even heard of it until just now! Although I don't own a 3DS myself, so I guess it's kind of a moot point (unless they came out with a version for the DSi?)
