So this is a refined version of my Robot Tank review (an old fav) as well as a new review for Concentration.
Yes, there are still Atari 2600 games I have not reviewed!

Fab reviews of two good looking games. RT is a great game. Time to review the new version of Battlezone? DL only but it is available on the 1. Also on psvr.

You know I don't think back in the early 80's when playing Robot Tank that I even realized that the enemy tanks didn't fire while out of view. I remember it being a fun game to play back then. If memory serves doesn't the screen flicker and distort when your tank is hit by the enemy?

big friendly,
You reminded me of something I forgot to include in the review. When you get destroyed, the screen goes bonkers with all sorts of scan lines jumping around. I told my friend Brent that it was realistic, and he asked "how many times have you died in a tank?!"

You aren't actually in the tank in Robot Tank; you're controlling it from a base with a video link. That effect is supposed to be the signal cutting off.

Technically and visually, Robot Tank is a 2600 masterpiece. But I don't like the gameplay when its difficulty ramps up and you cannot move because you are in the Rain and your treads are damaged. All you can do is wait for the enemy to appear and put you out of your misery, and that is annoying. If you had an auto destruct , then being crippled could then at least earn you another kill, if you did it and the enemy tank was on screen.
The night gameplay and using radar is great fun though, and it gets tense when you keep shooting the enemy's shots as you try to maneuver to a spot where you can hit the other tank. I love the rolling over terrain effect and the sense of progression, but I've never come close to destroying all the squadrons. Maybe if I learned how to do that, I wouldn't get so annoyed at the upper difficulty levels.. I'd probably rank this game as a B.
