Understandable. I do appreciate, though, when you mention the former grade here in the "Review Feedback" post, like you did above for SM64. You usually do. But when you leave that out, then we can't help but be curious. It's interesting too when you mention the reason for the change, especially if it's a big change.

Time hasn't been kind for those 3D games from the Psx/Sat/N64 era, even for for a stelar series like Super Mario where there are so many great games.

Mario 64 still is a great game and served as a step stone for not only future 3D Mario games but also any platform 3D game. Sunshine, Galaxy and Odissey kind of perfected the formula, so Mario 64 ended up being in the same position as the NES Super Mario Bros, both served as a blueprint for the series and the sequels took that formula to another level.

The best thing about Mario 64 imo is the gameplay, Mario is so fluid, he can jump, triple jump, wall jump, jump sideways, punch, grab things, slide, fly..., a wide range of movement for a 1996 3D game, now compare it to Tomb Raider where it was hard just to turn sideways, or even to the atrocious Sonic Adventure and it's automatic gameplay.
