Thanks, very interesting. I have always been a huge Atari fan. At the end of the Jaguar era that was it for the brand I loved.
Always good to read about Asteroids. Probably my fave early atari game. It was good on the 800sl a predecessor of the XE. I have not played Getaway but it looks great. Also great to hear about game you have not heard of before.

Welp, now I just wanna see that box! How's it compare to an older-style "big box" PC game?

I was actually planning on including a photo of the box. Maybe I'll go back and add that later.

Typo (or possibly just an outright mistake) in the Getaway! review: "in of itself" instead of "in and of itself".

Getaway! really sounds like something special - thanks for reviewing it. Just watched a video of it too - looks way ahead of its time, especially for a homebrew. I wish there was an easy way to play it.
As for Asteroids, I'm with you on those giant boxes. I have a couple and I have no clue where to put them. They really don't fit easily on any shelf.

Flash cart, emulation.

*easy way to play it for someone not technically-inclined
I can't even figure out how to burn a CD half the time.

LOL, my first thought too. I'm really really really really really good with technology up to 1992, then I'm hopeless.
Getaway does look like an amazing game, and it's surprising that I had never heard of this game before. The little details VGC listed in this game really sound impressive.
Finally, a typo in Asteroids (3rd line): ...it came it the biggest box... (should be "it came in")
Getaway (line 6): ...Mark traveled forward into time... (should be "forward in time" if my time-travel grammar is correct)

Emulation is incredibly easy. Download the emulator (and, in this case, OS files), download the game, open the game in the emulator. Atarimania and a8.fandal.cz have all the 800/XL/XEGS games you could want.
