I can't even figure out how to burn a CD half the time.

Emulation is incredibly easy. Download the emulator, download the game, open the game in the emulator. Atarimania and a8.fandal.cz have all the 800/XL/XEGS games you could want.

Reminds me of a line from The Office:
Michael Scott: Why don't you explain this to me like I am an eight-year old.

I added a link to the emulator itself, which I should have included in the first place.

Getaway sounds like a blast to play! I did a quick search for a copy on ebay after reading the review and didn't see any listed. Looks like I'll need to be on the look out for that one.

I have memories of playing 4 player asteroids with my family back in the day. Kinda surprised it got a lower rating as I remember having a good time with it. Keep the atari reviews coming!

I THINK I may have ordered Getaway from the following site. They no longer have game listings, but if you contact them by email I'll sure they'll tell you if they still have it.

Apologies, I don't understand your review of Asteroids. And I know that's probably my fault for not getting much sleep, but...

Why would you expect the raster port of a vector arcade game to be the definitive version? When you reference it as the original, do you mean that it's the same build as the 5200 prototype? Or did you mistake it for the first version of the game?

Please knock me upside the head if I'm missing anything painfully obvious.

In the early 80's, the Atari computers were the only systems powerful enough to closely reproduce arcade counterparts. And since many of those arcade games were made by Atari, they tended to be pretty good. See Donkey Kong, Defender, Zaxxon, Frogger, Ms. Pac-Man, Pole Position, etc.

Yes, the Atari 5200 versions were pretty much the same, but tended to suffer from the 5200 controllers.

I really wasn't taking vector graphics into account.
