2020/6/18: Playstation 4: SNK 40th Anniversary Collection

Postby VideoGameCritic » June 18th, 2020, 10:10 am

This PS4 version of SNK 40th Anniversary is similar to the one I posted for the Switch a few weeks back, but I don't think it hurts to hammer home out good this is. I would love to see more collections like this. They're become pretty rare, opening the door for systems like Evercade.

Nice review. I always make the mistake of overlooking SNK's earlier titles. Sometimes it feels like they just jumped on the scene with the Neo Geo.

If you like good collections like this, you might like Sega Genesis Classics too. It's the best Genesis collection I've seen, and a pretty good bargain. Since buying the Classics collection, I haven't felt the need to buy the Genesis mini yet.

Nice review! Glad you enjoyed (at least for a bit) Beast Busters. I did a review on that game a while ago. I always enjoyed playing as Paul Patriot (I have a thing for shade wearing characters), and I love the bestiary of that game. I like the floating turd boss, the cyclopean cucumber boss disguised as a mad scientist holding a woman hostage (the woman dies even if you didn't shoot her which is a bummer), The monster truck, the motorcycle riding zombies, the zombified owls, and the living bolt monsters. Did you know Michael Jackson carried one around on a cargo plane while on tour?

As a counterpoint to this great review see this collection. 22 game for 40 dollars! All 8 bit nes games never released in the west. There is a cute version of spatterhouse in it!!! Wow.

Plus Dig Dug and dig dug 2 again.

which is why it is great to see this review. I am glad you agree with me. The best example of a compilation since maybe the Taito ones all those years ago.
