2021/2/12: Atari 2600: Peter Penguin (Europe), Pengo
Time for some seasonally-correct Atari 2600 fun! Pengo is a re-review, but same grade as the previous review, posted 20 years ago. Peter Penguin is brand new. I was really into this one, despite how it looks.

Should these games have the winter icon?

Well I don't want to overuse it... but Pengo may qualify.

Did you know that Peter Penguin is partially based on Pac-Man code? Both games share about 40% code.

Nice reviews. I remember playing Pengo at a local ‘5 and 10’ in my small town in PA, one of the few places that had this particular game (same store also got Rally X in late 80, early 81). Pengo has a certain charm that’s an otherwise a meh game. Never tried it on the 2600.

Pengo ice blocks show off what a color palate advantage the Atari systems had all the way to the 8-bit computers (i.e. over the 64). It really makes a difference.

I did not know that. Curious, what language were they programmed in. Assembler?

Yup, all original games and most modern homebrews are done in pure assembler.
