Wow, a 1200 xl user. That is so impressive. I had heard about them but I never saw one out in the UK.

Thanks for that story RD! The 1200XL was my first computer as well.

You may be the only other person I've ever known who had that machine! It's a rarity for sure.

My first PC was a Sinclair Spectrum 48k. Colour clash was the order of the day though it has a lot of really good games. A sort of triumph over adversity machine.
Programming in Sinclair basic was a real pain. It used keywords, so in a way it was like Scratch. So they code blocks sort of worked.
My second pc was an Atari 800xl.

wow lots of former Atari 1200xl owners..back in 1985 i got my 1st Atari 600xl but then shortly after upgraded to the Atari 800xl because i kept buying games that needed 48k lol...GREAT memories of Atari BBS'S back then
i'll never forget the 1st time i got access to my first Atari Warez BBS with my 300 baud modem i could not believe what i was seeing..a list of games that i can get free without going to the store...1st game i downloaded was Buck Rogers..it was only 16k but it took over a half hour to download

Oh yeah, BBS'es!!! I remember thinking how incredibly cool I was when I upgraded to a 1200 baud, then, somehow, a 9600 baud modem a couple years later.

Anytime people complain about load times today I also note, "You don't know anything about load times until you've loaded a game from a CASSETTE TAPE."
