I've never played an NFL game due to a complete lack of interest and knowledge of/in the sport, but I did react to how Madden NFL 2000 comes before Madden NFL 99 in the list, which is probably just a typical computer-numbers thing (2 does come before 9 after all) but it's still not ideal.

It’s impressive how they got the names on the jerseys considering it was over 29 years ago.
I think Sega came out with their first football game on the Dreamcast at the time M2k came out and for three short years they blew Madden away.
It’s a travesty that the NFL sold exclusive rights to EA for gaming. They are two of the scummiest corporations on the planet who exist just to suck as much money from consumers without giving a damn about the quality of the product they put out.

I remember when Lakers versus Celtics had the player numbers on their jerseys in 1990 on the Genesis. That was HUGE.

i could never get used to the behind the quarterback view that has become the default view in football games over the years...football games with the overhead view like Joe Montana Sportstalk football are much more fun to me

I love the diagonal view for games like NBA Live 95, but I've never been able to get comfortable with that for a football game. I think it's something to do with the exact yardage situation in football compared to the more continuous action of basketball or soccer. Strangely I've never even looked to see if any hockey games offer the diagonal view - that continuous style should work well.
