There seems to be a certain kind of Nintendo fan whom just love to death their F-Zero and Kirby games....
I don't care for F-Zero mcuh at all, and Mode 7 is just awful! Not impressed by F-Zero SNES.....I am glad we do not have to go back to the 16 bit days, many 'classic' games seem so hollow now....

Is F-Zero really a "D" in comparison to the rest of the SNES library?
I think the Critic's aversion to "difficult" games strikes again. This also carries over to the F-Zero GX review.
F-Zero is what I would call a "twitch racer." It requires quick reflexes to navigate the difficult turns and avoid collisions that result in the "pinball" effect mentioned.
I'd rate it at least a solid B.

I can't agree with the D grade for F-Zero.
That Zen feeling you got when playing it... If you master the finese of the controls you will always get that feeling on the harder tracks. Very few race games come close to this one.

I agree with your F-Zero review. A few years ago one of my friends who had a SNES growing up saw F-Zero for sale from a rental place that was going out of business and marked down their already marked down games. He is terribly cheap and hmmed and hawed over buying F-Zero for something like $5, but decided he had to, since he had loved it so much. I'd never played it before, ever. Anyway, he brought it to his house, hooked up his old SNES, we played a few races, and... we spent the day playing his old copy of Super Mario World (fantastic game that gets better with age).
I don't get it. It just seems so boring. Maybe I'm missing something, but it feels like a case of Mode 7 over substance to me. Give me Outrun anyday. Heck, give me Battle Cars (I actually finished that one).

Are you really that surprised that F-Zero doesn't have split-screen? There are people on this very board who will try to tell you that even with today's crop of Xbox 360's and PS3's that programming a split-screen ability into a game is nigh impossible.

You've gotta be kidding me,this is one of the best SNES games ever. Sure it may have that mode 7 problem but I like how has that cool look. It's not "gaudy" at all
Beating the hard levels is very rewarding, and it actually is fun once you've mastered it.
This totally deserves an A-

I like the Michael Bolton reference. Makes me think of Office Space. "I told those fudgepackers that I liked Michael Bolton's music!"
As for the F-Zero review.. it's a bit harsh. I would probably give it a C+. I think it's one of those racers that takes a bit of adjusting to because it's a little different from your typical racer. But once you grow accustomed to the control then it suddenly becomes fun.

"The objective is to obtain a number one ranking in a series of circuits of increasing difficulty."
