I liked this Ghostbusters game.  Clearly a lot of time and effort went into it.  I will be reviewing some of the older Ghostbusters games soon, including the NES and Genesis versions.

Thoughts?  Comments?

You mentioned the short length of the game, but you didn't bring up anything about replay value.  What else does the game have to offer after the initial 5 hours?  Is the multiplayer mode just a two-player version of the same game, or is it more of a they play the ghost and you play the ghostbuster kind of deal?  What about mini-games or side quests of some sort?  I've been very excited about this game, but I honestly don't know If I want to pick it up new if there is really only five hours of enjoyment to be had from it...

I'm pretty sure every cut scene is a checkpoint. i have it for the 360 and may have only experienced one glitch. the second bridge you have to tether (the 2 bridges you do with ray in the library ghost world) decided it didn't want to come down for about 3 minutes. it finally came down without me doing anything different.on my second play through it came down first try. I'm surprised you didn't comment on how dumb and useless the other ghostbusters are outside of acting as decoys and medics. it was kinda funny to watch the collector come right at them without them even attempting to get out of the way, though. i didn't want or expect them to be able to do a hell of a lot considering you fight as a team of atleast 3 fairly fairly often but they don't even do the bare minimum even on professional. they didn't trap a single ghost by themselves on experienced.

I hope you were joking about installation taking several days.

A few comments:

Installation does not take several days - I was exaggerating.  It might take a good 10 minutes though.

As for the other Ghostbusters being dumb, it wouldn't be much of a game if you didn't have to do much work.  The fact that they were "acting" like they were doing something was enough for me.  They did at least revive me a few times.

As for replay value, I was going to mention in the review that I wouldn't mind playing this again.  You can collect hidden artifacts and I'm sure there are many that I missed.

I also forgot to mention that you can unlock some really interesting videos and documentaries.

Whats funny is I rented this today(first game I've rented in years and played through the entire game today with a friend.
this is a great game I'd say high B+ as well.  took me about 7 and change hours was fun using the slime teather to play with objects!!!!, still felt heafty and honestly perfect in timing nothing gets old rather have 7 of fun than 13 hours of ugh.. but honestly the onlin miltiplayer is crazy fun.  I agree though if every ps3 review has a few sentences devoted to "grrr load times" maybe make a 1-4 rating of load times, 4 being the worst, outside the review at the top.  So critic can vent and we can still be informed.
The Alissa Milano character was pretty worthless....but I agree the setting and the actual wrangling of the ghosts is very intuitive takes  a level or two to get good...and also the four different types of weapons/upgrades are very sweet.
p.s. not every cutscene is checkpoint....it is way more often, about every 5 minutes of gameplay...
my recommendation is hardly any game is worth 60 bucks but i will say emenies/levels/fun factor easily top 5 in games played the past year.

Lengthy installations are the rule for PC games. It sucks that this is now the case with consoles.

For PS3 games anyway.  360 games rarely need installation, and Wii games never do.  The problem is, the PS3 is a Blu-Ray player that's not designed to play video games.

Wait a second. When have you played 360 games that have required installation? Or are you talking about games that make you update them when you first put them in? The only game that needed an update for when I wasn't hooked online was The Darkness, and even then, the update was quick. Other than that, the only thing besides that would be the games that offer the new dashboard update on the disc for non-online players.

Will you be reviewing the Wii version, too?  It features full (local) co-op, and yes, you can cross the streams...
