Sorry it took me so long to review this charming platformer.  This is the ideal game to play in the Springtime.  I think I did a pretty good job with the review, but I'll let you be the judge.

VGC. I wish to express my greatest thanks for reviewing this game.

Your on the money with pretty much everything. This is a fantastic review. It would be nice if you could review the Playstation version and do a compare and contrast.

Out of curiosity did you finish it?

I think you should mention in your review that it's a remake of the PS1 game, Klonoa: Door to Phantomile (1997).

I agree with you Critic, good review. I was curious about this game (but moreso the PS1 original rather than the Wii remake). However, like Luke, I found it curious that you mentioned all the 90s platformers it reminded you of, without actually mentioning that the game itself is a remake of a 90s platformer.

I didn't even realize it was a remake.  The original Klonoa is pretty rare and I don't have it.

Just be warned that complete copies of Klonoa: Door to Phantomile are rare/expensive.

More info on PS1 original here!

BTW, great review critic!

The original Klonoa on PS1 is kind of hard to come by, but if your reviews are any indication, you actually have a demo of it.  Remember that bonus disc that came with Ridge Racer Type 4, containing the 60 FPS version of Ridge Racer 1?  It also houses some demos of Namco games on it, including the PS1 Klonoa, so it might be worth digging out if you're curious to get a sneak preview of how it compares to the Wii remake.

Yeah, the Klonoa demo is def. a "secret gem" of that bonus disk.

Speaking of PSX 2d goodness, have any of you played Tomba?

Yeah Greisha, I think Tomba! is hands down the best platformer on the PS1. Would love to see the Critic give that one a shot. Definitely a hidden gem, and would probably get high marks in the A-B+ range. It has a very old-school feel (complete with 3D graphics on a 2D plane, like Klonoa), and it's made by the same people behind games like Mega Man and Ghosts N Goblins. Only problem is that, like Klonoa, it's hard to get a hold of. It goes for around $40-$50 complete on eBay. But it's definitely achieved that price based on its gameplay moreso than its rarity.
