|
Actually, he was initially very forgiving of Dead Rising 1, giving it a B-, but then he downgraded it C- and apparently, downgraded it again to D+ in the wake of the sequel. I'm glad he finally gets how overrated that game really is and how it totally got a pass because people liked that it had zombies in it (in fact, I remember someone defended this game by saying that any issues it had was justified by the presence of zombies, which really depressed me, because I could tell he was serious).
I couldn't agree more. I've played both and was extremely unimpressed, especially the first. The time limits and awful save system of the first just completely ruin the game. In addition to that, the A.I is terrible and the combat gets dull fast once the novelty of the different weapons wears off. I guarantee that if they swapped the zombies out in place of different enemies like robots/aliens/thugs or whatever, this series would be hardly noticed at all. Sorry but the presence of zombies alone does not make a good game. | |||

What really annoyed me the most of all was that when I heard about the premise being Zombies-at-the-Mall I immediately thought of the ultimate sandbox game, especially given the good reviews this game got. The physical environment is excellent and provides a great backdrop. I remember just standing still and admiring the malls and casinos. However, what I found was an incredibly frustrating game where you move slower than a snail and constantly break your weapons.
What REALLY made me throw this game away for good last week was when I left my daughter to die and just went to have some fun. I completely ignored the story and was having a blast until suddenly the game stops dead and the military captures me and destroys the city. For a game made in 2010 this is completely unacceptable! I know I'm not father of the year material but leave me alone and let me have some fun!
I'm dropping my grade to C- on this one. Are all the big reviewers blind, stupid or were they just paid off?

I like the 2 d parts of splatterhouse but think the 3d parts let it down somewhat.
You are right on the money with you Shadows review. There is a really good game in here. The plot is virtually the same as splatterhouse. As another person said what lets it down it the levels when you have to snipe whilst running away from your girlfiend as she is possessed and one kiss will kill.
I really like the dark humour that is involved in it. Same it lets itself down with the odd eccentricities.
