Mario Kart 7 is a must-have for 3DS owners.  I gave Cave Story 3D a chance, but I really couldn't get into it.

Comments?

If anybody can think of some icons that would be appropriate for these games, let me know!

Completely agree on Mario Kart 7, though I think 3D Land's a bit better in my opinion. MK7 is still really fun and the shortcuts, secrets, and unlockables are fantastic! Lookng to Cave Story 3D too!

Critic, I should mention in Mario Kart 7 that there is an optional first person mode which you can control your kart by tilting your 3DS! It works really well and I suggest you try it!

If you didn't know, Cave Story was originally a freeware PC game, and there's also a slightly enhanced Wiiware version, so you can indeed play the game on a big screen.

I love Cave Story and I like the 3D version the best.  It's a bit like a cutesy Super Metroid.

Mario Kart 7's a solid racer, though I felt single player is a little barren after getting three stars. My only other question is why Mario 3D Land got downgraded. Oringinally, it received an A+, and I don't see how Mario Kart 7 affects that, as they are different genres, as opposed to grade adjustments for the Galaxy games.

Once again, the VGC trashes an indie game for being a little bit different.  Cave Story is not supposed to be Super Mario World.  It's all about exploration and atmosphere.

This reminds me of the Limbo review, which he trashed for not being fast-paced.

King of racing, except for 64 it would seem.

What did you think of the Rainbow Road though? It really changed things up,this one

Also I had to laugh at the part where you wrote "the usual suspects",considering the omission of Waluigi and addition of Lakitu,Metal Mario and the Queen Bee,which frankly definitely isn't what I'd suspect.

Also did you catch the little glitch in the Wuhu Loop?

Still very much spot on though, and such a great read.

I know I'm in the minority, but I like Waluigi.

Waluigi only appeared in three Mario Kart's (The same amount as some other minor characters like the baby version of Mario).

Not exactly a series staple.

@Leo Only 3? You forgot the second Arcade version, and besides he is in pretty much every other Mario spin-off as a regular, the babies are not. The babies have only been in two

@mozart Well count me in the minority then as well. Though I coulda' sworn he had a bit of base. My point is he seemed like an obvious choice and thus usual, yet he was cut from the roster.

That said,Yoshi is my usual test dummy first time around.
