Points for authenticity, but you forgot the scuba gear!

California Games. Specifically the NES port, as that’s the version I’m most familiar with. To me, nothing says summer like trying to keep a “foot bag” up in the air as long as you can, hopping on a BMX bike and doing all sorts of tricks, then trying to throw a frisbee as far as you can while your partner dives around in vain trying to catch it. Of course, there’s other events to compete in during the game. But those 3 are my personal favorites. Particularly the frisbee throwing event haha

I'll recommend the games that I associate the most with summer and always evoke pleasant summer memories, as that's the time when I initially played these, ad infinitum, all summer long.

Probably the most summery games are Leaderboard Golf and Jungle Hunt, both for the Commodore 64. Summer in the jungle, baby!

Another summer favorite is Bump 'n Jump for the Atari 2600. It does have a summer stage.

Finally, my most treasured summer game (which always brings back memories of the Summer of 1988 for me) is Boulder Dash II for the Commodore 64. Explore cool, subterranean caverns whilst escaping the summer heat above ground.

Banjo-Kazooie for N64. Play it at least once a summer!!

(It's on Xbox Live Arcade, Switch Online) I'm playing it on my Steam Deck right now on emulator.

I'm playing through Road Rash (GB) and Road Rash (GBC) right now. Super fun and summery!

Going to play Road Rash on GameGear next! Doesn't get much more "summer fun" than racing combat with a peppy soundtrack on a hand-held.

Recently tried to play Myst V for the first time in about 18 years. While that was a bust (the magical stone writing tablets that the puzzles revolve around are simply broken), it did put me in the mood for Riven, which I wholeheartedly recommend for this season.

Ah Riven, a nice summery game. It took me 10 years to beat that game!
