There's a horror game by the creator of Silent Hill called Slitterhead. It got bad reception, but I think it's worth a shot. Speaking of Silent Hill, I'd recommend the Dementium games on the DS. It was pitched as a SH game at one point when Konami needed new games. They seem to have a cult following as they had console ports. Not at all related to Halloween, but the devs behind Dementium made a series called Mutant Mudds that's retro inspired. While it's been around since 2012, it was one of the last 3da games to get a physical release.

Hey critic, I was going through your Halloween list and saw your entry for Echo Night. Did you know it had a sequel on PS2? It's probably too late for you to get to it this year, but maybe next year?

It won't be out until after Halloween, but there's a House of the Dead 2 remake coming:

I've been enjoying Crow Country a lot, it's got PS1-inspired graphics and audio and plays like a more whimsical version of the original Silent Hill so far. The physical releases unfortunately won't be out until after Halloween, so it might be something to keep an eye on for next October.

Yes review this one.

Oof. I don't know if I'll be able to do this one lol. This game has a cool premise, and the story is great (reminds me a lot of Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer) but I can't remember a game that felt more like a chore to play than this one. It's not a survival horror game, it a survival crafting game with survival horror gameplay. It's combined two genres notorious for how fragile you are, and the result is the slowest and most exhausting game I've played in years. I can't make myself play it for more than ten minutes at a time, even for the purpose of reviewing it. So how about I just give it an F here and move on?

I'm revisiting Darkseed for the Saturn. This one is Japanese but it's got enough English to figure it out. Someone was actually nice enough to send me this one many years ago.

I really like the Giger-esque visuals and simple controls. This may be due for a grade bump.

Dark Seed for me is one of those games that would be awesome if it weren't for the fact it's a 90's point-and-click adventure, and for some reason the creators of adventures games back then didn't like the idea of your game actually being possible to figure out without having a guide glued to your hand...

A suggestion for a review: Jan Pieńkowski's Haunted House (Philips CDi)

It looks very weird, but it seems very appropriate for this time of year.

Some gameplay in the link:

Obviously it's too late to do it this year, but maybe next year you could make a list for the best Halloween levels. IE, levels that have a distinct Halloween vibe despite not taking place in horror or Halloween themed games. And if you do, my votes go to Halloween Town from Kingdom Hearts and Subcon Forest from A Hat in Time.
