Ads on the Site

If you've been perusing the site for a while, you know I occasionally attempt an ad compaign so I can make a few bucks on the side (this site isn't my job but I put lots of time and money into it). Usually these attempts last a few weeks but I end up pulling the plug for some reason or another. If I get irritated by the ads, they have to go.

Well, I've been talking to a company called Infolinks who has demonstrated some ads that are pretty unobtrusive and might be tolerable. The ones I have in mind are at the bottom of the page and you can close them.

Anyway I might be experimenting with these in coming weeks so don't freak out if you see one. If you have any feedback, good or bad, let me know. I don't want to scare you off!

I currently only have ads at the bottom on the main page, but I'll gradually fan them out to the rest.

I don't mind the "bottom of the page" ad format. These ads are small and not "in your face". And you can easily close them.

They might not generate enough to be worth it, but I figured it's worth a try.

Okay so on the mobile side, I only have an ad on the main/home page. I don't usually access the mobile, so let me know what your experience is.

On the web side, I just put the ads on all the review pages. We'll see how it goes. Again, let me know if you have any issues or concerns.

I would just suggest placing the ads in a way that they don't slow the load time down or make it difficult to enjoy content. Things like that would make me stop coming here if they got too bad and it would defeat your purpose. You tried some in one of the side menu boxes a few years ago and I didn't find them intrusive at all. I'm not sure why those were abandoned. I've seen your tests lately pop up on the main page bottom and I think they could be better placed.

Good feedback. I don't think the current ads would slow down the page loading, but I agree it might be better if they were in the margins. I'll see what I can do.

I talked to Infolinks and they moved the ads to the bottom left. Any better?
Or would the bottom right be preferable?
