September 9th Nintendo Direct

Nintendo will be having a general Direct tomorrow at 10 AM Eastern Time along with the Zelda direct that aired earlier today.

What are your predictions?

I'm hoping we see a new Mario platformer or a new Mario RPG (a new REAL Paper Mario would be a dream come true).

I think we'll definitely see Pokemon Winds and Waves info.

No new Metroid game, unfortunately. Maybe some more news on Xenoblade Genesis. Other than that, no clue what they'll pull out of their hat.

There's rumors a new Smash will be announced this year, but we'll see.

New Metroid looks great—really glad they stuck with the Dread engine. OoT remake is obviously a must play. Excited for some Mario Kart World DLC.

I can’t decide if I want to (ever) try Elden Ring….

The new 2D Metroid looks fun and a new Kirby next spring looks like a good time as well. I agree the Mario Kart World update looks like fun with 10 new SNES courses to play.

New Metroid and Kirby look awesome. New Mega Man looks really cool too, and that Metal Slug Collection.

That Onyx game looks interesting. Apparently it's handheld mode only.

Pleasantly surprised by the announcement of a new Metroid game. Now I know that I'll definitely be getting a Switch 2.

A really great line up of games I do not want to play. Though, what i love about Nintendo is the way that they present their shows. A chap in a suit clicks his fingers and these amazing games turn up. Free updates for Mario Kart, that is great, and a 4 player game for star fox. Then click another set of games. No fake audience howling like a bunch of demented jackals, like they did at the Xbox show for Fallout 76 news. Just a man, talking about games stylishly.

The games are a bit cute for me. Good to see a lack of Western games. I saw the Crew Motorfest. Beware the crew games are online only and they like to switch the servers off then you are not playing the game again. Graphically they do look like powerhouse games but as the critic likes to play games offline, I think these turkeys will not impress him.

An open world Kirby game sounds interesting, although between it, Metroid Prime 4, and Donkey Kong Bananza, Nintendo isn't doing a lot to shut down the accusations that they're trying to BotWify all their franchises.

Weirdly, though, the one I'm most interested is the Yu-Gi-Oh GX Tag Force 3 remake. Why they decided to do the third game and only the third game, I have no idea, but I've been wanting to try that series for a while. Hopefully it'll come to PS5--and since Konami is behind it, it probably will.

Brazil had already accidentally exposed the coming 2D Metroid game. Even the name had somehow gotten leaked. I had high confidence that it was coming. It looks amazing and I am happy the leak turned outt o be true.

The Silent Hill-like game "Onyx: The Dark Grip" looks terrific. But I don't know how to feel about a game that can only be played on the handheld mode and not on the TV.

Are the RE2, RE3 and RE4 remakes actually remakes? Or are they just remasters of the existing remakes? The RE4 one looked like a new remake, but I didn't play the two existing remakes for RE2 and RE3, so it was hard to tell. Are these just remasters of the existing remakes?

The new Tomb Raider looks awesome. It looks a LOT like it ties Atlantis somehow to ancient Egypt, which is kind of weird. Still, it added a LOT of great visuals. And the gameplay looks like the traditional, which is a good thing.

Guardians of the Galaxy looked interesting. Is this a port of a PS5 game?

And finally, let's be clear -- the Ocarina of Time remake looks FANTASTIC! I am so stoked to play that game! Sooooooo excited!!!
