Looks like I'm not alone in my disappointment.
According to an IGN poll 75% of gamers were disappointed in the reveal and 29% thought it was an unmitigated disaster.

Judging from activity in several forums, on comments, and so forth, I am really not surprised with this. I was have classified myself under unmitigated disaster.

Eh, it more or less met my expectations, I had a feeling Microsoft was going to be emphasizing the non-gaming aspects of the system. I highly doubt it will be the disaster people are making it out to be.

I can't believe the numbers aren't higher. What's Microsoft gotta do to disappoint the remaining 25%?

I agree. I suspect a high percentage of "real" gamers (people who play often) would consider it a complete disaster, as I do.

Yeah well, some would say you're jumping to conclusions. I'm a "real" gamer and I don't believe this is going to fail nearly as much as most people do, I'll bet a lot of naysayers will change their tune after E3.

Unless their E3 presentation begins with "Ha HA, everything before this was a joke! Here's the real new Xbox. It's not even called the "One." It's just Xbox 3, and here are all the games that you will be able to buy and sell just like you always have" I think that highly unlikely.

Yes, people keep saying to wait until E3 to pass judgment. Why? In case the games they show are so amazing that we will forgive them of all the other crap they are trying to pull? Unless they actually backtrack and decide to change some of the things they have already announced in response to the consumer backlash, I can't imagine what they could do...

I'm a fan of both the 360 and the Ps3. And even when both
new systems come out. I'm not gonna go run out and buy
them.
But however with everything that I am hearing about the
new xbox, I think i will be getting the Ps4 long before I
get the new Xbox.
But as i said, i dont plan on getting either immediately,
so it will just truely depend on how much of what we are
all reading is true when the systems are released.

Again, short of backtracking, I think the only way that I'd be getting one of these is if it was priced at $100 and new games are $10 each, with possible major releases going for $20. I'm not joking, that is my price point for a console that will not let me keep my games past the generation's lifespan. Somehow, I doubt it will be so affordable, considering that it seems to have every device short of a microwave oven shoved into it (they may reveal the microwave oven, mini-fridge edition at E3).
