Soundtrack CDs

Postby VideoGameCritic » September 30th, 2013, 4:27 pm

I notice I've accumulated a small collection of soundtrack CDs for various games.  Currently I'm listening to Silent Hill 4: The Room which is very gloomy and haunting - but in a good way.

Anybody else listen to game soundtrack CDs?  Any favorites?

I absolutely love "The Legend of Zelda: 25th Anniversary Symphony." This soundtrack CD came with early releases of Zelda: Skyward Sword, and it contains remixed tunes from various Zelda games. My personal favorite track on the CD is "Twilight Princess Symphonic Movement." It sounds incredibly atmospheric and epic (yes, I know some people, including me, are sick of that word, but I can't think of another way to describe it)!

Would it be a problem if I posted a link to the music on Youtube?

I also love the soundtracks for all the 3-D Sonic games, Sonic Adventure 2 being my favorite.

Although I enjoy music while playing games, nothing has moved me enough to buy a soundtrack. However, hearing that my favorite band contributed to the Grand Theft Auto 5 soundtrack, that's going to change. The only problem is that while I know their contribution is on the second released CD, I'm not aware of which songs are theirs. I'd prefer to only download their material. My first soundtrack purchase for a game I won't even be playing.....

I don't have any game soundtrack CDs, but I do occasionally play the raw music files via a plug-in for winamp. My favorites are Castlevania, Ghouls 'n Ghosts, Cadash, and ActRaiser.

Steve-Which band would that be? speaking of which I also love all the GTA soundtracks, they definitely revolutionized use of licensed music in video games.
