Mobile Site Suggestions Needed

Postby VideoGameCritic » January 24th, 2014, 9:43 pm
Myself, I would like to see a small "thumbnail" on the mobile site of your recent reviews. Also, for some reason on the mobile site when visiting the forums, the scrolling is really terrible on it (very slow), yet on other mobile forum sites, I can easily scroll through (swiping with my finger is fast and fluid). Not sure why this is the case, though.
Good feedback.  I can definitely add thumbnails to the mobile pages.
The forum issue will hopefully be addressed later.

Just to let you know, I added screenshots to the main and system pages of the mobile version.  Let me know what you think!

Dave, just wanted to follow up with you on the main page changes you did for the Mobile version. Looks great! The thumbnails really do help. I noticed the link to get to the forums on the top of the page was gone. Any chance you can add a tab for that?

Thanks for the feedback!  The link to the forums is still there.  It's called "Message Boards".

Hmm. Odd. For whatever reason yesterday, only 2 tabs showed up on there, the Full Site and Feedback. Must've been a glitch when loading on my phone. I see all the tabs now, and it looks great!

Here are a couple of issues that I have with the mobile site:

When I'm browsing console game reviews, and I tap on a title, it doesn't take me to that particular review as it should. Rather, it takes me to the first game in the alphabetical title range.

Sometimes when I try to open a thread in the forums, it bounces me back out, so that I have to tap on the thread again.

BTW, this is on a Kindle Fire, if that makes any difference.

mdb,
Could you point me to a specific link on the mobile site that does not take you to the review?  That will make it a lot easier for me to diagnose the problem.
Thanks!

Hi,

I think this is just a quirk with the Amazon Silk browser. I tried the site with mobile Firefox and it's fine.

I also figured out an easy fix. All I have to do is tap on the title, refresh the page, and then it takes me to the right review.

I doubt this is an issue with other devices and browsers.

My site is somewhat unique, in that it's served up as static pages.  On the upside, it means fast loading.  On the downside, browser caching sometimes shows you older versions of the page.

I have an idea about how I might alleviate this.  Stay tuned.
