Commodore 64 games were notoriously bad in regards to loading times, they often took several minutes to start-up.

Then came the datasette that were so slow you left and watched some He Man and Skeletor. Then came the 1541 disk drive which let you linger on a load screen but at least you stayed. Then came ways to turbocharge the load time.
The thing is, every year or so load times decreased. With things like the Amazon fire preloading what it thinks you want to stream, couldn't a console hold game data in some form of memory for instant start? Of course, it probably is volatile memory eating electricity...
