Steer and Scotland, some excellent suggestions! I think that Dave needs to focus on the following:

1. Increasing his image, which is the website address or "VGC".
2. Having more people visit the site
3. Keep the slogans neutral so that people not familiar with the site will understand it.

Of your suggestions, these are my top 3:

(either VGC or website address): Video Gaming from Retro to Tomorrow.

VGC: Reviews that take a byte out of Games

Catchy, clever slogans that also include good marketing. For me the reasons for the T-shirts (and possibly coffee mugs, drinking glasses, etc) is to show our support for this site and to have more gamers visit here. But maybe I'm way off so I'd like to hear any other suggestions.

Again Steer and Scotland, well done!

Some of these slogans are great, especially the "online resource for offline gaming"

How about one of my favorite lines "The Past Isn't What It Used To Be"

This is the best suggestion by far. I really like it.

So it looks like the initial designs (t-shirts/mugs/hoodies) will include the tagline
"Your online resource for offline gaming".  

Any objections?

Obviously I can add new variations to the store in the future, but I have to start with something and this seems like the best candidate.
