Are they going to reprise that catchy Sonic Boom theme song?  It was one of my favorite parts of Sonic CD!
If I was going to make fun of Western developers, I'd claim they'd beat the textures into a dull, dark, lifeless stew, then pump Knuckles full of steroids, add in God of War style brawling, and add in the most hilarious voice-overs from a forgotten "Let's Play" channel with views in the low double digits...which I'm sure will only get better during repeat play-throughs.

And then someone would slap me upside the head for being racist, because Retro studios has shown that Western developers can master Japanese gameplay styles...

So, I apologize, but since I'm not racist, I refuse to believe any part of this exists.

Based on the video, I can see a major part of the game that I like and a major part of the game that I don't really like. The platforming looks excellent. The inclusion of that electric tether thingy makes the platforming look like Sonic mixed with Bionic Commando and it looks like a lot of fun. On the other hand, there's the combat. The mere fact that there is combat beyond just jumping on enemies has me a little concerned. The combat looks decent enough but it's not really the kind of gameplay I want when I play a Sonic game. I could understand if it were just Knuckles who played like that but we see Sonic kicking and punching things as well. Based on what I know about Sonic Boom now (which is no more than the contents of the video, mind you) I think it would have been better if each character had their own unique set of stages that all played differently like in Sonic Adventure 2, rather than having the ability to switch between characters on the fly. As for the bad textures, well I don't really care. I can't tell the difference between HD and SD so I'll leave that side of the argument up to people who can tell the difference. As for the voice acting... eh. It's a cartoon tie-in for kids. Children's cartoon voice acting has never been all that great anyway (before anyone jumps on me for that, I know there are exceptions. I'm just generalizing). Sonic Boom doesn't look all that bad, certainly not terrible. So far, it looks like a C game at worst. I'll try it out regardless.

That said, I do agree with this statement:
I mean it's not like Sega hasn't got loads of IP's they can produce other games for is it ? I can't see the reason they are flogging poor old Sonic to death.
