I'm getting a 3DS...what games should I get?
So I'll be getting a 3DS XL this holiday season and I've got a small list of games I want.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
Super Mario 3D Land
Bravely Default
Kid Icarus
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon
Persona Q
Anything else I should keep an eye out for? I really don't have an interest in Smash Bros or Mario Kart...I'd rather plays those on the big screen. Other than that I'm open for suggestions!! Thanks!

Fire Emblem: Awakening should definitely be on your shopping list, especially if you love Persona and similar games. I am a big fan of the Ocarina of Time remake as well.

I don't suppose that you're a Pilotwings fan? This one flew under most people's radar, but Pilotwings Resort is a favorite of mine.
For more likely titles of interest, check out Sega's 3D Classics range which will be increasing with the addition of several great classics like Outrun in the new year. They're unfortunately limited to the digital realm, but they're the highlights of the 3DS eShop as far as I'm concerned and worth making a few exceptions for.
The 3DS also has two nice Mario RPG's that are worth considering if you've enjoyed previous entries. And New Super Mario Bros. 2 is also a solid platformer, although I still think it falls well short of the classic entries in the series or the Wii/Wii U counterparts. And the remastering of Ocarina of Time and the upcoming counterpart for Majora's Mask are worth considering if you're a Zelda fan (they're much more than just unchanged ports to the handheld).
Other than that, how about Rayman 3D? It's an excellent port of Rayman 2 and unlike the last attempt on the DS, this one does it justice.

I'm getting a 3DS...what games should I get?
I love my 3DS and I have played quite a few excellent games on it. Here is my list of games to get/try-
Fire Emblem Awakening- Even if you only have a small interest in the genre, this is an excellent game and one of the best games on the 3DS. It has a solid story and the game play is highly addictive. This is my favorite 3DS game bar none.
Bravely Default- This is a pretty good RPG by Square Enix. It has an awesome battle system and good graphics. The story isn't that amazing but the game play is excellent.
Mario & Luigi Dream Team- This one is okay. I beat the game but the story wasn't that great and I hated the mandatory touch screen controls on certain battles. Still, it was pretty fun and might be worth considering if you want a light actiony RPG.
Pokemon X/Y- I'm not sure how you feel about the Pokemon games but this one was a breath of fresh air for the series and it finally took the series to 3D. It was addicting like most of the Pokemon games and even though it didn't change the formula too much it did everything right and was very enjoyable.
Ocarina of Time- This was an excellent port and it has a lot of extra content in it as well. I really enjoyed this one and the graphical upgrades were really nice. I'm excited for Majora's Mask.
Luigi's Mansion- This was a lot of fun and did a lot of things really well. The change from a single mansion to multiple mansions is a big change for the series and the game had a more mission like setup, but it was a lot of fun (and the controls were much better then the NGC version). Solid title.
Mario Kart 7- A solid title if you like kart racers although I felt like MK8 was a strictly better game so if you don't care to have a portable MK game then this one is passable.
Otherwise I think you mentioned most of the games I'd recommend anyway.

Keep eyes peeled for 'Steam' and then tell us how it is!
Cant argue with most of the choices there, pretty well known games.
-If you are looking at eshop titles, Gunman Clive is a nice deal and Gunman Clive 2 should be out soon.
-Steamworld Dig is simple but addicting and fun, I would recommend.
-Rusty Real Dela Baseball is very addicting, very polished budget game. Put $10 on your eshop account and get as much of it as you can, the story and game buying mechanic are real strange.
-NES Remix is coming to 3DS, if you have not played the Wii U versions.
-I imagine you have played Cave Story, the DSi version is small but fun
-Avoid Mighty Switch Force, very vanilla game
-Not overly fond of controls on the Swords and Soldiers Port

Cool thanks for all the replies. I appreciate it.
Leo - I'm actually a sucker for Pilotwings games...I didn't know there was a 3DS game. I'll certainly need to pick that up!
The more I look at the library it's crazy to see the RPG support this system has. I think between that and the stellar 1st Party stuff I could stay busy for quite some time.

Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is great, but the 3DS game I enjoyed the most is Shovel Knight (eShop only). Also, I seem to be one of the few people that really had fun with New Yoshi's Island...

Do not get Dillon's Rolling Western in the eShop. That is a game from Nintendo that they promoted pretty hard. I got it for free as a Club Nintendo reward, and I think it is one of the worst games Nintendo has ever made. Bad controls, boring missions, slow and limited tower defense mechanics, and the characters are derivitive of Sonic and Tails in the extreme. If the eShop suggests it to you, ignore it. Totally flawed junk.
On the "must have" side, I will agree with everyone saying OoT 3D. It's a great upgrade and I got over 60 hours out of it and the Master Quest. A Link Between Worlds is also incredible.
By the way, here's Dillon and Russ (or is it Sonic and Tails) from Dillon's Rolling Western. Dillon is the one with attitude who attacks enemies by spinning into them, and Russ is the earnest sidekick who travels in a flying machine.

I'm getting a 3DS...what games should I get?
I don't have a 3DS, myself because I didn't have a DS until the 3DS had already been out for awhile. With my very small DS library of a whopping 3 games, I'm not quite ready to upgrade yet. But a friend of mine has a 3DS and I've tried out two of his games and I would totally recommend them.
Fire Emblem: Awakening for all the reasons already mentioned by others in this thread.
Project X Zone. It's got a very fun and different battle system. Or maybe it just seems different because the other Namco crossover RPGs never came out in America so I have no experience with them. But whatever. The little I played of it was a lot of fun.
Also there's one game that I haven't played but it is one of the games I'm looking forward to playing the most whenever I do get a 3DS and that's Shin Megami Tensei IV.
