I'm even more interested in it after all the crap Microsoft fed us the other day. This is a $100 Android-based console that will be released soon. I think it could be really cool...

Here is the Ouya indie console. Seems like a good time to remind everyone considering the Xbox One...

I only just heard of this a few days ago, can't say it really peaks my interest though.

Controller does not look very good. I bet most people will buy it for emulation, as I doubt the library will be overly strong.

This just looks like a machine that lets you play cheap cell phone games on your television. No thanks.

What about the Steambox? Does that actually interest anyone? Certainly not me.

Actually, they already have a long list of developers lined up making exclusive stuff for it. It's not just a portal to get the Google Play Market on your TV or anything. Give it a bit longer of a look before you dismiss it, Dave...

You guys obviously need to look a little more into the background of the system. It started as a Kickstarter project by developers who did not like how the market was going, and it exploded with support. It has not even been released yet and they have over 100 games of all kinds ready at launch. And what's wrong with the controller? It looks just like an Xbox controller but with firmer grips on the sides.
I'm excited for a console to possibly steal some thunder away from the big guys and try to keep them honest, which is something I think we are going to want with what Microsoft is trying to pull...
It seems like I am always hearing people say they wish there was another console to shake up the market, like another Dreamcast. Hopefully we can support things like this to keep the market going in a direction that we should favor as gamers...

I am not sure if Final Fantasy III should be called a 'cheap cell phone game'.
The controller does seem a weak point. My wireless Retron 3 controller was of poor quality, but the console had regular controller ports to make up for it. My experience with one Bluetooth controller for my droid phone was that connectivity and responsiveness was fine (better than IR), the d-pad and button quality was again quite poor. Then again, even if the Ouya controller is weak, but its just a Bluetooth controller, then buying a second or replacement one is not a great hardship. Annoying, but not fatal.
Does the Ouya give you more than what you could already hook up with your own smartphone, and a micro usb to HDMI connector and a Bluetooth controller? Or conversely, you can buy a Droid handheld, with a good sized brightly lit screen with built in controllers online. If this is just running Droid, then would any Ouya developed games be exclusive, or would they work on any Droid running the same version?
I like Droid. Yes, this Ouya will be used for emulation, and that can be a sticky wicket, but this whole platform is still so new. I'm not a Tetris fan, but that silly logic game from the Iron Curtain launched the Gameboy, even over the superior color Sega Gamegear. You may not like mobile gaming Angry Birds, but just a cutesy version of the same type of logic games. It too has helped to launch a new form of mobile gaming. Some posters have talked about a return to solid 16 bit gaming as an alternative -- maybe this is it. Certainly RPGs or Zelda type of games have a home here. If more people used Droid as a classic controller based gaming platform, the games, real gamer approved - oranges and not 'cheap cell phone game' apples, would come. Final Fantasy III is already a real orange, isn't it? Even if you quibble is emulated, its just an RPG, not a schmup or something where emulation's flaws become apparent.

Here is something to show you the graphic capabilities of these "cheap cell phone games"...

Obviously not groundbreaking, but definitely good looking for a launch title. I guess Dave's comment bugged me enough to really want to refute it, since I have been excited about and studying this console since they first conceived it, and I hate to see it dogged on ignorantly. Some of the best and most original titles on Xbox live have 8-bit quality graphics, so I'm not sure why he would even say that...

Thats more of its marketing image. Its real purpose is emulators. It has emulators of NES, Genesis, SNES, and many more systems that are supposed to work really well. If you're interested in emulators, this system may be a easy way to play emulators on your couch, instead in front of a computer screen. I'm interested, but I will wait for reviews.
Here's a youtube video from IGN about its NES emulator.
