Yes you read it right, Sega America CEO during the successful Genesis period Tom Kalinske wanted to come to an agreement with Sony to produce the follow up system to the Genesis/Mega Drive instead of the Saturn.
He was overruled by Sega of Japan who pushed ahead with the Saturn and Tom left shortly afterwards and Sega kind of nosedived from there.
Now I knew Nintendo passed up the opportunity to work with Sony, but was unaware Sega also made the same mistake (in hindsight).
Being an unashamed Sega fanboy this would have been awesome and the gaming landscape would look very different today.

Wow, both Nintendo and Sega passed on an opportunity with Sony. While some may think it was stupid of them, I'm glad, because we never would have had the Playstation.
