POLL: Objectively, what is the best console ever? And in each generation?
I'd rather play Tempest 2000 than Spyro or Crash Bandicoot (as I try to hold back tears of laughter). I have to agree with Sega, games for the PS1 have not aged well. I always felt like when I was playing the PS1 I was making a sacrifice. I had to overlook the awkward and hard to look at graphics, as well as the load times that didn't sit well with me. Maybe it's just because I grew up on the NES and a lot of people here were too young, but I know what a legendary console is. And the PS1 has too many flaws. 3d console gaming was awkward and never reached its potential until around 2004. I think Halo, which was released a couple years before, was really the first realistic 3d game that was right on.

As we all know, Cybermorph and Checkered Flag have aged beautifully.
Just because you don't like the games the PS1 has to offer doesn't mean the Jaguar is mystically better. The Jaguar made no impression on the industry and everyone laughed at it.
You still can't name those 10 games, can you?

Cybermorph:
Iron Soldier (Jaguar):
Yes, obviously the Jaguar owns the PS1 in 3D graphics...

I'm not saying the Jaguar had games with more 3d capabilities (bigger environments, faster frame rate, etc.). But I always found the Jag's 3d graphics more easy on the eyes (as well as the 3do) than the PS1, whose 3d graphics all too often gave me a headache (and, as we've mentioned, whose games haven't aged particularly well). But, I'm seriously missing out on some FF7 action.

The Jag's sloppy polygons and inconsistent framerate age far worse than any PS1 game I've seen. The PS1's textures might warp but at least it can keep 30fps down.
I don't care if you don't like the PS1 but don't pretend like the Jag was any better.

Lol, even the Playstation One is "too modern" for a handful of the community.
God help us all.

The Jaguar is essentially the 5200 Successor (satire).

Jon, just to clarify, are you saying that you personally prefer the Jaguar over the Playstation, or that you objectively think the Jaguar is better than the Playstation? ("Objectively" meaning: "not influenced by personal feelings, interpretations, or prejudice; based on facts").
From the sounds of what your saying, it seems like it's the first choice. And if it is then there's nothing wrong with that, despite straying slightly off the topic (and being a strange preference). If it's the latter choice though, then I have to agree with everyone else here that it's crazy talk. You might as well throw the Game.com in the discussion too for good measure.

Boy, if this topic has taught me anything, it's that there sure is still a lot of lingering animosity toward the original Sony Playstation. Is it some sort of anti-bully defense mechanism? (i.e., the competition gets crushed by the new kid in town, so all the N64, Sega, Jaguar, and 3DO owners spend the rest of their existence hating the "bully" that ruined 5 years of their lives and stole all the good games that were supposed to be on their systems). Or is it just part of human nature-- our natural tendency to be jealous when "the other team" is dominant? (i.e., like how all the non-Cowboys fans hated the Cowboys in the early 90s for winning all the time, or the Yankees in the late 90s, or all the other sports dynasties in history that people hate just because they always win).
And it's not even a dislike for a legitimate reason.. you can easily read between the lines in the anti-PS1 posts here and see that it's pure resentment, plain and simple.
