This is a big reason why MS is bad for video games. It doesn't fund projects, it attempts to bully itself into market share by buying exclusives.
This is likely time limited exclusivity, but it also means that not even PC gamers will have it available for a while.

I'm really bummed now. I was planning on getting a PS4 later this year and maybe an Xbox One a couple of years later to play Halo 5. I was up till now sure I will play the next Tomb Raider on the PS4

In either case, all three need to do something to ensure they have some level of exclusive games, else they'll all become generic and easily replaceable.
MS picked up Titanfall and now Tomb Raider for I'm guessing a pretty penny. Considering the PS4 is more powerful and between the two systems I'd have gone with any multiplatform game on the PS4. As a result, it makes sense for them to pick up a few games to keep the Xbox One in contention until the next Halo game releases.
Sony is getting Grim Fandago, lucky punks. Nintendo is getting Bayonetta.
Evil, business, they all do it. You say potato, I say potahto, let's call the whole thing off.

Punching through is one thing, but there's nothing a bullet can't make happen.

But I don't see how Crystal Dynamics benefits. I'm more asking them why, not MS.

I don't see anything wrong with them making it an exclusive, considering Dead Rising 3 was also excluded from the PS4 i'm not surprised by this, and I really don't see how this means MS are "bad" for video games at all, that makes no sense to me whatsoever.

Also I should point out that Sony actually did the whole "exclusive" thing with Tomb Raider first, back when Tomb Raider 2 came out, Sony paid big bucks to make sure that it only came out on the PS1 and not on the Saturn like the first one did, so now Sony knows what it's like to be on the other side.
Besides this will more then likely be a timed exclusive, and it will at the very least likely go to PC in a few months after the initial release.
