[QUOTE=Leo]

I couldn't swear that it was 8 person multiplayer (The upper limit for a backwards compatible Wii) which was why I carefully worded that post. Upon checking, the two Bomberman titles for the TG16 that saw Virtual Console releases offer 5 person multiplayer via a combination of Wii and GameCube controllers. I kind of mislead you a bit, but still pretty neat I think.

Nah, my bad.  I read your post too quickly and assumed it said 8 player Bomberman.  Still good info to know.

I was too harsh with the SNES, it's definitely got some great games (although some genres are lacking). I'd forgotten how good SF2 and some other games were. I'd thought about how I've been criticizing it and the N64, and then I realized, what was I thinking lumping the SNES with that turd. I agree with Oltaboz on the N64 when he said "except for 3 to 5 games roughly, most of its games didn't do it for me." Goldeneye is a great game but what else really is there. I used to like Mario 64 and Banjo Kazooie when I was younger, but I don't anymore. Mario Kart 64 is great, of course, but it's one of those games you only break out sometimes. That system's nothing without Goldeneye.

ActRaiser, I just thought to look up Bomberman titles made specifically for the Wii and see that Bomberman Blast on WiiWare features 8 person local multiplayer via 4 Wiimotes and 4 GameCube controllers.

How the heck wasn't 8 person Bomberman advertised?  That's crazy!

I get that there are few times for when something like this can be used, but I'm going to have to seriously consider it the next time we host Thanksgiving.

Thanks for the update.

oh, I criticize Nintendo for not advertising such a freaking awesome feature.  That's just idiotic.

I've been playing the original Super Mario Bros. a lot lately and, I thought about how they're still making Mario games at a nauseatingly quick pace. Then I realized, I'm sick to death of this. They're milking this franchise like crazy. Everywhere you look there's a new Mario, and we're talking 35 years now. How can anyone defend the Wii U when it's the same crap over and over again. Come out with something originally for crying out loud.

1. No compilations on disc. How about Mario's Ultimate SNES Collection (sound familiar)?

2. No 3ds/DS player adaptor for the Wii U. I'm still holding off on the Wii U until that adaptor comes out.

3. No console version of Advance Wars.

4. Some more effort dang nab it. I understand they need to to do Mario kart & Zelda and Donkey Kong, but how about some new cool properties like fire emblem?

5. No NES Open Golf series. Camelot did a mediocre job on Nintendo golf. Nintendo should have put some more priority on making that series awesome.

6. Expanding into a more "adult" market. I understand they have a brand name and that they
don't want to tarnish that, but how about funding some other developer into making some cool "adult" games and then making them exclusives?

Still all and all I love Nintendo. I wouldn't bother criticizing them if I didn't care.

Tron - why would Nintendo release a compilation on disc? They have the Virtual Console which ostensibly is preferable for consumers as it allows the freedom to pick and choose which games they want. Presumably it is more profitable also, so they would be foolish to bring out a competing disc.

Advance Wars Wii U would be great, yes. I'm sure there could be a separate debate on what equates to a cool adult game, but I would personally love to see a sequel to Eternal Darkness. Nintendo could do with a couple of second-party developers to produce games in the genres that they are unwilling to, and to diversify the Wii U library.

I never understand this criticism.

They just made Fire Emblem 3DS it was awesome. A new Fire Emblem for Wii U  game is announced and in the works. The studio that makes theses games just got a brand new building for THEM SELVES and they have over a 100 employees. Their new IP - STEAM - is for 3DS and was showcased as a big game for this E3, getting an hour long demo session with the media.  How is that for commitment?????

Dog, did you attack me? I feel like someone tried to attack me, but then someone else stepped in to stop them and then when I turn around to see who was trying to attack me all I see are a bunch of smiling faces.

Anyway Dog, I disagree that a virtual console is preferable for consumers. As a consumer I'd rather pay $30-$40 for a disc with 20 games rather than $1.99 or whatever it is for individual titles. With that disc I can play it on any console I want to. With quality control severally sucking I'd rather not have to be bothered transferring digital ownership. I also like to use cash. I don't want to be bothered with credit cards & registration & all that jazz Bo dingle. With compilations I usually only know a few of the games. Finding a hidden gem is awesome, also experiencing an awful game is no big deal as it's part of the package. With individual pricing I'd be less inspired to buy games that I've never heard of. Even if it is more profitable, which we don't honestly know if it is; I think Nintendo should do more to protect the quality of their brand. Sometimes fan service isn't directly profitable, but it nets profits. I don't want Nintendo to be just a Mario Xbox or a Mario Sony.

Sega, I said new cool properties like fire emblem, not new cool properties for fire emblem. I love fire emblem & I'm glad Nintendo is investing in it, but FE is not a new property. Japanese gamers got it in the super familia days. I think us Americans got our first FE back in 2003 on the Gba. I'd
like new games "like" fire emblem & advance wars.
